Our Mission
i4inclusion empowers and unites youth to counter hateful rhetoric fueled by media-induced biases
Our Vision
In our deep care and regard for communities who are vulnerable to forms of identity-based violence in the United States, i4inclusion has propelled a social media campaign to directly counter these tactics. We identify hateful rhetoric in the media as a key contributor to identity-based violence and marginalization in the United States of America. To counter this, we seek to provide the tools for young educators and leaders to address hate as it appears in their communities and work to foster a network of young people who are confident in their capacity to engage others in positive, productive and inclusive dialogue.
Our platform empowers users to “break the cycle” or to respond to bias and identity-based violence in their communities. Through access to media literacy resources, users learn strategies that empower and inform action in their communities. As part of our vision for creating strategies to #breakthecycle, users will be provided a support network of peers seeking to address violence in their communities. Users will learn to navigate the experiences that lead to individual expressions of hate and learn to identify the forms of media that propagate dehumanization, so as to mitigate the formation of violent prejudice.
